Aria Whitmore
Hairstylist & Founder, StrandEdit
Hi, I’m Aria — the person behind StrandEdit. For years, I’ve spent my days behind the chair, cutting, colouring, and styling hair for clients who walk in wanting a change and walk out feeling like themselves again. StrandEdit is where I take everything I’ve learned in that chair and turn it into hairstyle ideas anyone, anywhere, can actually use.

Why StrandEdit Exists
Search “hairstyle ideas” online and you’ll find the same handful of photos recycled across a hundred different sites, with captions that never tell you how to get the look, whether it’ll work on your hair, or what to ask your stylist for. That gap is exactly why StrandEdit exists.
Every article here starts with a real question I’ve heard in the salon — “will this cut grow out well?”, “can my curl pattern handle this?”, “what do I even ask for?” — and turns it into a guide you can bring to your own stylist or try yourself at home, no matter what city you’re in.
What I Focus On
- Cuts that grow out well — styles built to still look intentional at week six, not just on day one
- Colour that fits real life — low-maintenance techniques that don’t demand a salon visit every three weeks
- Hairstyles for every texture — straight, wavy, curly, and coily hair all get real, specific advice here, not a one-size-fits-all approach
- Styling for face shape and lifestyle — because the “it” haircut of the moment isn’t automatically the right one for you
How I Write
I write StrandEdit the way I’d explain something to a client sitting in my chair: plainly, honestly, and without padding it out just to hit a word count. If a trend photographs beautifully but falls apart after one wash, I’ll say so. If a technique takes real upkeep, you’ll know before you commit to it. My goal is for every guide to leave you with something you can actually act on — not just something nice to scroll past.
My Background
I trained and worked in salons for years before starting to write full-time about hair, and that hands-on experience shapes everything I publish. I’ve seen which cuts hold their shape, which colour techniques age gracefully, and which viral trends were never built to survive real hair, real weather, and real routines. StrandEdit is where that experience gets written down.
